Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
- ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk

- 2 medium pears peeled, cored, and diced (about 2 cups)
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
Whisk together the dry ingredients.
Cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
Fold in the diced pears.
Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool on a wire rack before serving.
