Ingredients
  

  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial-grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water about 175°F/80°C
  • 1 cup milk of choice oat, whole, almond, soy, or coconut
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 –2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup to taste
  • ½ cup ice cubes

Optional Add-Ins

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or coconut cream
  • Fresh strawberry slices
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Chia seeds

Instructions
 

  • Blend the strawberries with honey or simple syrup until smooth.
  • Strain the purée if desired for a smoother café-style texture.
  • Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl.
  • Add the hot water and whisk until smooth and frothy.
  • Fill a tall glass with ice.
  • Pour the strawberry purée over the ice.
  • Slowly pour the milk over the back of a spoon to create a separate layer.
  • Carefully pour the whisked matcha over the milk to create the final green layer.
  • Stir gently before drinking and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Use ceremonial-grade matcha for the smoothest flavor and brightest green color.
Do not use boiling water, as it can make the matcha bitter.
Fresh strawberries provide the sweetest flavor, but frozen strawberries work just as well.
Oat milk creates one of the creamiest dairy-free versions.
Adjust the sweetness based on the ripeness of your strawberries.
For the best presentation, pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon.
